I have examined the accompanying Ordinance intituled Ar. Ordi- nance to modify certain provisions of the Treaty of Peace Order, 1919, as amended by the Treaty of Peace (Alendment) Order, 1920, for the purpose of ada ting the provisions of the order to the circumstances of the Colony of Hongkong,

and I am of opinion that the Ordinance is one which is not contrary to the

Governor's Instructions,

The object of this Ordinance is to adapt to the circumstances of the Colony the a endments made in the Treaty of Peace Order, 1919, by the Treaty of Peace (Amendment) Order, 1920. The method fol-

lowed is that which was adopted in Ordinance No. 3 of 1920.

3. In my opinion this is an Ordinance to which His Excellency the Governor may properly assent in the name of His Majesty and on His

behalf.
